Founded in 1985 by Bill Totten and several partners who all worked for more than a decade as General Electric field service supervisors in industrial and marine machinery and management MI-TECH is a team of specialists with wide-ranging experience working with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), the military and shipyards.

Anchored by a modern, 15,000-square-foot facility with quality assurance instrumentation and a team of precision machinists, MI-TECH delivers full-spectrum manufacturing, consulting, repairs and rebuilding services. Our Team Includes

Charlie Brooks, Outside Sales Representative, has 30 years experience as a senior mechanic, supervisor and project manager with companies including Excel Apparatus and Braswell Shipyards. He specializes in CSI vibration analysis/preventative maintenance, Vibar laser alignment, CSI field balancing, and is KSB surmissable pump-certified.

Archie Dixon, Field Service Supervisor, is an expert in steam power generation prime movers, auxiliaries and controls, with 43 years of experience in operation, maintenance, and repair of rotating machinery. A Certified Steam Generating Plant Inspector and retired E-9 U.S. Navy Boiler Technician Master Chief, he has been with MI-TECH, Inc. since 1986.

Jake Duvall, Field Service Supervisor, spearheads work on the refurbishment of main propulsion and auxiliary steam system components. During his 28-year career as a supervisor for major shipyards, he received numerous commendations in the operation, repair and maintenance of propulsion boilers and auxiliary machinery systems.

Jim Gray, Vice President, is a master machinist with 46 years of experience in the operation, maintenance and repair of industrial and marine rotating machinery. A founding partner in MI-TECH, Inc., he spent seven years with General Electric as a Field Service Representative.

Heath Heckman, Contract Administrator, joined MI-TECH, Inc. in March 2003 after successfully managing and providing sales support for several manufacturing and repair facilities. With 21 years in the manufacturing/repair industry, his focus includes marketing, estimating, production and total customer satisfaction.

Ronnie Lee, Outside Sales Representative, has 23 years of experience as a machinist, including 17 years in paper mill repair. He joined MI-TECH, Inc. in 2007 after working with companies including the Charleston Naval Shipyard and BESCO.

Jay McCarthy, Field Service Supervisor, was previously a machinist with the U.S. Navy, Superb Machine Repair and Boeing Aerospace. He has 20 years of experience in the operation of lathes, milling machines, horizontal boring mills, vertical turret lathes and various precision grinding machines.

Bobby Mimms, Field Service Supervisor, has 28 years of experience in all aspects of machinery repair, including 16 years as Machinery Superintendent for Braswell Services Group. He is an expert in Ocean-going Minesweeper (MSO) repairs; feed pump and turbine overhauls; all types of work on propulsion and auxiliary turbines, diesel engines, propulsion shafting, reduction gears, controllable pitch propeller systems, generators, sweep gears, bearings, and weight handling equipment. Previously he was a Machinist Mate, Engine Room Supervisor, QA Supervisor, Leading Machinist, and Ships Welder for the U.S. Navy.

David Sharbo, Field Service Supervisor, has 30 years of experience in the operation and repair of marine and industrial rotating machinery, including a three-year tenure with Detyens Shipyards as a Machinist Supervisor. At Detyens, he was instrumental in formulating new maintenance, training and quality control procedures that increased efficiency and productivity. A licensed Boiler Engineer and Commercial Millwright, he has been with MI-TECH, Inc. since 1987.

W. J. "Bill" Totten, President, has 41 years of experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of industrial and marine rotating machinery. A graduate of the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Apprentice School, he worked for General Electric as a Field Service Representative for ten years before becoming a founding partner in MI-TECH, Inc.
